Beach Holidays for Fun in the Sun

Everyone loves beach holidays!  The little ones can dig in the sand and splash in the lapping waves.  The older ones can swim, get a tan, or just relax.  The inquisitive types can explore for sea life, tide pools, and drift wood.  The warm breezes and natural beauty are invigorating and restorative.  Any trip, however, can cause discomfort if you do not plan well.  Here are things you can do to make your beach holidays easier, safer, and more meaningful.

In many parts of the world, people head for their beach holidays in the family car. When planning a trip, it’s always a good idea to give the car a good cleaning out first. This will give you more room for your luggage.  Stock you glovebox, too, with a few first aid and comfort items, such as sunblock, acetominiphen for headaches, a roll of antacids, a few cough drops, and a few bandaids.  Don’t forget a couple of scrunchies or pony-tailers for long hair. Get the tires checked and replace any that are likely to go flat.  Get an oil change if it’s getting close.  Road trips are not much fun when they include breakdowns.  And whatever you do, make sure you have a map and a place to keep it handy.

Travelling with kids is always a challenge.  They may be particularly excited and impatient when they know they are going on beach holidays.  Make sure they have cool water bottles and healthy snacks to munch.  Try a simple car game to make the time pass.  Many kids like looking for letters of the alphabet on signs.  If several people get involved it can be quite fun.

With beach holidays particularly, there is always a need to provide for skin safety.  Be particularly careful about being in the sun for long stretches of time between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.  Use a sunblock with a high SPF rating and replace it after getting wet or drying off with your towel.  The towel you choose can make a difference too.  Thick towels get heavy and tend to trap a lot of sand.  You may find you like thin towels at the beach.  Wear sunglasses to protect your eyes and some sort of foot protection to keep your feet from being burned on the hot sand.

With a little preparation your beach holidays can be enjoyable and problem-free.  When you arrive home you will be relaxed, refreshed, and ready for work. Take a minute to unpack and get your laundry going.  It won’t belong until the kids will be shouting, “When can we go on beach holidays again?”

Your 7 days program to Stress management

They say there’s more than one way to skin a cat. The same goes when you start tearing your hair out with all the frustration, grief, anxiety, and yes, stress. It’s a state of mental conditioning that is like taking that bitter pill down your throat, causing you to lose your sense of self, and worse your sanity. Just thinking about it can drive anyone off the edge.

And they say that the proactive ones are already living off the edge.

As one stressed-out person to another, I know how it feels, and believe me there are many variants when it comes to stress. Coping with life, and carrying the problems that may or may not belong to you can scratch away the little joy and happiness that you can carry once you head out that door. You can’t blame them for being like that; they have their own reasons, so much like we have our reasons to allow stress to weigh us down. They say that stress is all in the mind, well, what’s bugging you anyway?

There are several ways to manage stress, and eventually remove it out of your life one of these days. So I’ll try to divide it into a seven-day course for you and I promise it’s not going to be too taxing on the body, as well as on the mind.

1. Acknowledge stress is good
Make stress your friend! Based on the body’s natural “fight or flight” response, that burst of energy will enhance your performance at the right moment. I’ve yet to see a top sportsman totally relaxed before a big competition. Use stress wisely to push yourself that little bit harder when it counts most.

2. Avoid stress sneezers
Stressed people sneeze stress germs indiscriminately and before you know it, you are infected too! (more…)

Divorce Filed: Husband Unknown

Linda Hogan has filed for divorce from her wrestler husband Hulk Hogan, a newspaper reported Friday.

Hulk Hogan, whose real name is Terry Bollea, told the St. Petersburg Times that he had no idea his wife had filed for divorce. He was informed by a reporter that Pinellas County court records showed that the paperwork was submitted Tuesday.

“Thank you for the great information,” he told the reporter.

Family spokesman Adam Handelsman referred calls to another spokesman, who did not immediately respond Friday night.

“My wife has been in California for about three weeks. … Holy smokes,” Bollea later told the newspaper. “Wow, you just knocked the bottom out of me.”

The couple star in the VH1 reality TV series “Hogan Knows Best,” with their two children. Recent episodes show the normally close couple attending marital counseling, but they eventually reconcile.

Israeli Officer Charged for Supplying Information to Iran

A reserve officer in the Israeli army has been charged with offering to supply classified information to Iran, Russia and the Palestinian group Hamas.

David Shamir, a psychiatrist, is accused of offering information on command centres and civilian evacuation plans in exchange for payment.

Court documents indicate Mr Shamir’s repeated alleged attempts to offer his services were unsuccessful. Mr Shamir has not formally responded to the charges yet. Police say he has cited greed as a motive.

Mr Shamir, 45, e-mailed Iran’s foreign ministry in April to offer his services, according to the court indictment released on Friday.

The indictment suggests the ministry refused his offer.

He is then accused of faxing the Iranian consulates in London and Istanbul with a similar offer.

Earlier this month, Mr Shamir is alleged to have e-mailed a university in the Gaza Strip known to be a stronghold of the governing militant group Hamas - offering to “join the struggle” in exchange for money.

South Pacific’s Largest Whaling Program

Japan has confirmed that it will carry out its largest whaling programme in the South Pacific.
The mission, expected to draw strong protests from environmentalists, will depart on Sunday and breaks a 44-year moratorium on hunting humpback whales.
Japan’s fisheries ministry said the fleet had instructions to kill up to 1,000 whales, including 50 humpbacks.
Japan was forced to abandon commercial whaling in 1986, but has since carried out whaling for “scientific research”.
Four whaling ships, including the lead craft Nisshin Maru, will depart from the southern port of Shimonoseki.
The 239-man mission plans to kill more than 900 minke whales as well as fin whales and humpbacks, in a South Pacific whale hunt that will run until mid-April.
The 8,000 metric tonne Nisshin Maru was crippled by a fire on a whaling mission in the Antarctic in March. One crew member was killed.
A Greenpeace campaign ship will be following the Japanese fleet.
Tokyo’s plan to target the humpback - which was hunted to near extinction four decades ago - has drawn condemnation from environmentalists.

World No. 1 dominates Nadal, will meet Ferrer for title

Roger Federer looked sharp in dominating Rafael Nadal 6-4, 6-1 Saturday to advance to the Masters Cup final against David Ferrer, who cruised past Andy Roddick 6-1, 6-3.
The second-ranked Nadal was 8-5 against Federer and played well early, but the top-ranked Swiss star found another gear while serving at 4-4 in the first set. After Nadal pulled ahead 15-30, the defending champion ran off 20 of the next 21 points, including 15 straight in an 11-minute span.
“I was really pleased with my performance for the last 11/2 sets,” Federer said. “Before that it was tough. Rafa had a bit of the upper hand. But after that, I got in the zone and played incredibly. Once I get on a roll, it’s hard to stop me.”
A stunned Nadal won only three points in the first five games of the second set. He finally held at love to break Federer’s streak of seven games.
“When he’s 100 percent, he’s playing in another league. It’s impossible to stop him,” Nadal said. “I fight. I fight. I fight. Nothing to say. Just congratulate him.”

Alicia’s No One

Alicia Keys is glowing. Her dressing room at the Palms Casino’s theater in Las Vegas is crowded with well-wishers. The singer-songwriter just performed her new single ”No One” for the first time ever at MTV’s Video Music Awards — and nailed it. There are hugs and high fives all around. Keys’ longtime boyfriend and co-producer, Kerry ”Krucial” Brothers, marvels that she was able to stay cool while Kid Rock and Tommy Lee almost came to blows near the foot of the stage. Keys sends the love right back at him: ”That was all you!” she gushes. ”I could see you on the side of the stage like, ‘Don’t stop!’ Thank you for that! You kept me going.”

In an unlikely coup, Keys — a last-minute fill-in invited to sing after Amy Winehouse called in sick — has stolen the show with old-fashioned commodities like talent, passion, and class.

”I love everyone’s response to the music,” she says. ”I’m inspired. I’m in a good place.”
